Searching for Custom Home Builders in Vienna?
Turn to Foley Development Group
When searching for a custom home builder you may be full of questions, and that’s perfectly normal.
There are a lot of questions when it comes to many aspects of building a new home, and many can
be answered simply by asking the contractor anything you can think of.
New Beginnings
So you’re in the market for a new home, and whether the reason is a growing family or other needs you want specific details about what your potential home builder can offer. Maybe you’re downsizing, or maybe you need a home with more space; whatever the reason your first step to searching for a custom home builder would be to check out a few different sources. Sources such as your local Home Builders Association, a local real estate agent, or even your close friends and relatives who’ve recently had renovations or had a custom home built themselves. You should shop for your home builder, just as you’d shop for the best brand of moisturizer or your favorite shampoo. You want a home builder who is going to be able to provide you with the things you need at a price that isn’t going to break your bank, because as you know almost all of us could use a little savings!
Make Your Decision Easy
After consulting with your friends, relatives, real estate agents and your local Home Buyers Association, make a list of possible contractors for your new home. Take notes every step of the way, from the beginning to the time where you’re interviewing potential contractors. These notes you’re taking will later become your “guidelines” for making decisions on whom you pick to build your home.
When interviewing the contractor ask many questions, questions such as: how much customizing will a builder do as opposed to standard work and features, does the builder offer a warranty, how is the school system in the area you are building your home rated, and what are the estimated taxes you will be paying on your new home? Also, be sure to get references from each possible contractor, and ask about previous projects each has done, see if you can get an interview with the home owner. A home owner is quick to tell you what they think about a contractor, and if it’s something they aren’t happy with more times than not they will tell you why they are not satisfied with the work provided.
Observe, Observe, Observe
Keep in mind the notes I mentioned earlier, take them with you to things such as open houses, home shows, model homes, even ask the builder to see any unfurnished homes he may have available for showing. When examining any of the above mentioned pay attention to detail. Observe how the cabinetry, carpeting, trim work, painting, counter tops and plumbing are installed and finished. Look for quality when checking on these things, quality is definitely key in looking for a good custom home builder.
As mentioned in the first part of this article, never fail to ask lots of questions, even if you may think it isn’t an important question it could lead to a very important detail you may have left out. You’re spending your hard earned money on the new home and I’m sure you want quality just as much as anyone, maybe even more. So don’t forget to ask questions, and with all of your questions and notes finding a great custom home builder should be as easy as writing out your monthly grocery list.
